돈 리터 / Don Ritter

돈 리터(Don Ritter)는 디지털 미디어아트 분야에서 활동하는 캐나다 출신의 미디어 아티스트, 디자이너 겸 이론가이다. 1986년부터 그의 인터랙티브 설치와 퍼포먼스, 그리고 비디오 작품들은 북미, 유럽, 아시아 등에서 전시되어 왔다. 그의 작품은 보는 사람들의 위치와 움직임이 서로 상호작용하는 과정에서 완성되며, 라이브 사운드에 의해 제어되는 비디오 프로젝션에 의해 구성된다. 이번 심포지엄에서는 그의 작품에서 드러나는 가상적 속성이 게임 예술과 어떠한 부분에서 연결성을 가지는지 논의될 예정이다.

Don Ritter is a Canadian artist, designer, and writer who has been active internationally in the field of digital media art since 1986. His large, interactive installations enable audiences to control their experiences through body motion, position, or voice. During his interactive performances, video projections are intricately controlled by live music. Ritter’s work has been presented at festivals, museums, and galleries throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. His recent writings examine the relationships between aesthetics, ethics, and digital media. Through this symposium, he will explain the meaning of his work in the way that the part of virtual property can connect character of game art.
