모리스 베냐윤 / Maurice Benayoun

모리스베나윤(Maurice Benayoun)은 프랑스 뉴미디어아트의 선구자중 한명이다. 파리와 홍콩을 기반으로 활동하는그는비디오, 몰입 가상 현실, 웹, 무선기술, 퍼포먼스, 대규모의 도시 설치물, 상호작용 전시 등의 다양한 매체를 다룬다. 또한 베나윤은 미디어아트 이론가로도 활동하고 있다. 이론가로서 그는 비판적 융합(Critical Fusion), 확장된 상대성(Extended Relativity) 등의 개념을 제시하였다. 최근 그는 자신의 작업을 열린 예술(Open Art)이라 칭하면서, 전통적인 형식, 매체, 경제제도에 의해 제한받지 않는 예술을 구상하고 있다.이번 심포지엄에서는 그의 작품, 특히 그 작품에 사용된 상호작용적 속성에 기반한 사용자 참여의 특성이 게임 예술과 어떻게 연결성을 가지는지 논의할 예정이다.

Maurice Benayoun is a French pioneer new-media artist and theorist based in Paris and Hong Kong. His work employs various media, including video, immersive virtual reality, the Web, wireless technology, performance, large-scale urban art installations and interactive exhibitions.As a theorist, Maurice Benayoun coined the concepts of Critical Fusion, as "the fusion of fiction and reality to decypher the world" and Extended Relativity, a model from physics to understand the process of subjective data mining and urban navigation. He considered his recent works as a form of Open Art, paraphrasing Jon Ippolito, not limitated to the traditional forms, media and economic schemes of art.Through this symposium, he will explain the meaning of his work in the way that the part of participant by interactive points can connect character of game art.
